The University Librarian of the University of Georgia Libraries shall solicit members for a Board of Judges, a committee of 12-20 members, including as ex officio members the following:

  • University Librarian of the University of Georgia Libraries
  • Director of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library

Appointed members of the Board of Judges shall be appointed by the University Librarian of the University of Georgia and shall serve upon the Board for and during the period of three (3) years, or until their successors are appointed.

The terms of the elected members of the Board of Judges shall be staggered so that each year one-third to one-quarter of the judges will finish serving their three-year terms and new judges will be appointed in their places.

In addition, living inductees shall be automatically tendered appointments as ex officio members of the Board of Judges for a period of three (3) years.

Meetings of the Board of Judges

The Board of Judges shall gather annually to conduct its business immediately following the annual induction ceremony and reception for the honorees.

During the annual business meeting, the Board of Judges shall elect two inductees to the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame. The University Librarian shall act as chair at these meetings for the purpose of organizing discussion.

At all meetings of the Board of Judges, twelve (12) shall constitute a quorum, and the action of the Board of Judges at such meetings shall be binding upon all members of the Board of Judges and the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame.

Nomination and Election of Inductees

Nominations will be open to the public and will remain permanently available on a website maintained by the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library, the host collection of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame program.

It shall be the duty of the Head, Georgiana Collection, Hargrett Library, to receive all nominations for the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame. It shall then be the duty of the Head, Georgiana Collection to accept only such nominations that meet the threshold requirements as spelled out in the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame's official nomination form.
